The first national flag of Belarus appeared in 1919. It was a red banner with the abbreviation SSRB. In 1927, the inscription changed to BSSR. After 10 years, they added a sickle, a hammer and a five-pointed star. In 1951, the national flag acquired its usual form, where red is a symbol of courage and nobility, green is a symbol of prosperity and peace, and white speaks of wisdom and purity. Belarusians voted for this option in the 1995 referendum in the independent republic. We tell you more about the symbol of the country in the Special Report program.
