Last weekend, a special atmosphere prevailed at the reservoir near the village of Sopkovshchyna in the Stolbtsovsky district of the Minsk region: fishing enthusiasts gathered here – employees of the Belarusian House of Printing. The competition was not only a sporting event, but also a truly emotional one, bringing together colleagues in an informal atmosphere outdoors.
This year, 14 people took part in the competition. Despite the fact that everyone’s catch turned out to be quite modest, and the total weight of the fish caught was about 5 kilograms, the mood of the participants was really combative. For many, the main outcome of the day was not so much numbers as communication, good company and the excitement of the competition.
According to the results of the fishing competition among the employees of the enterprise, Maria Matlakh, the controller of semi-finished products and finished products of special production, who is currently on parental leave, took the third place. It is also interesting that her husband, Evgeny Seleznev, an electrician for the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment in the department of the chief power engineer, was the winner of last year’s competition. Then he took second place. This year, the second place went to the deputy head of the bookbinding shop, Elena Kravchenko. The first place went to the flat print printer of the newspaper shop, Viktor Saikovsky, a multiple winner of these competitions. Fishing is not only a man’s business, it is so nice to see women on the podium, especially in the Year of the Belarusian Woman.
But the intrigue did not end there. In accordance with the Regulations on fishing competitions, special nominations were established, which added even more vivid emotions and good humor to the event. For example, Maria Zotova, the designer of the production and publishing center, received the prize for her original approach to fishing. The audience award for perseverance, perseverance and the will to win went to Viktor Kalinin, the loader of the newspaper shop, and it is also interesting that Viktor Yulievich was the winner of the competition in 2024, then he took third place.
The most unusual catches also deserve special attention. Oksana Ivanyuk, a seamstress at the production and publishing center, won in the “Smallest Fish” nomination: her prey weighed only 6 grams. But the largest fish, weighing 103 grams, turned out to be Maria Matlakh, which brought her another well–deserved victory in the competition.
The most touching moment of the day was the presentation of the diploma “The youngest fisherman”. It was given to Maria Matlakh’s daughter Anna, who was next to her mother all day, despite her three–month age, the girl watched the competition with interest in her father’s arms, becoming perhaps one of the most notable and beloved participants of this warm family outing.
Fishing competitions have once again shown that the staff of the Belarusian House of Printing can not only work well, but also enjoy spending time together. Such meetings give a boost of energy, strengthen the team spirit and leave behind not only photos, but also pleasant memories.
