Topic: “ENSURING THE SAFETY OF LIFE: FROM CYBER ATTACKS TO RULES ON THE ROAD”
Issues related to the state of the environment and environmental safety have long ceased to be of interest only in the scientific community. Today, they are among the key factors in determining the quality of life and are of interest to everyone. Moreover, the presence of serious environmental problems that threaten the life and health of the population devalues all other indicators of the quality of life, all the conveniences and privileges, or a high level of income and consumption. According to international experts, Belarus is among the countries with a favorable environmental situation – it is in the top, fairly prosperous third of the approximately 180 countries in the world. But this is not just a random combination of circumstances or a gift from God. The state is carrying out extensive work within the framework of the country’s overall socio‑economic development plans to improve all parameters of the environment in which we live.
Thus, over the past 10 years, from 2014 to 2024, the emission of pollutants into the atmospheric air has decreased by more than a third, including by more than half from road transport (despite the fact that the number of passenger cars increased by hundreds of thousands over the same period). This is the result of a targeted policy. Suffice it to say that our country ranks first in the world in terms of the rate of reduction in atmospheric emissions of sulfur dioxide and black carbon (in simple terms, soot), and is also among the leaders in reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This is a great deal of long‑term work and substantial investment, but the achievements are obvious — Belarus holds a leading position among post‑Soviet states in the “air quality” category.

Over the years of independence, Belarus has done, without exaggeration, enormous work to achieve world‑leading standards in the field of ecology. However, further progress will require the conscious, active involvement of everyone, based on inner conviction and knowledge — an ecological culture.
It all starts with a simple choice made by each person, which makes it possible to make their hometown/agrotown/village, and our Belarus as a whole, cleaner, more beautiful, cozier, and more comfortable for a happy, healthy life.
Ultimately, we do it for ourselves!
