In Minsk, the cultural and patriotic action “Calendar of Memory” continues, which is timed to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

At noon on June 30, 2024, at the Victory Monument, another page of the symbolic calendar of memory with the events of the Great Patriotic War was solemnly turned over by the delegation of the Sovetsky district of Minsk, consisting of representatives of the district administration, labor collectives of organizations and enterprises of the district, including the Belarusian Press House, as well as public associations, students and schoolchildren, pupils of the militarypatriotic clubs.

Representatives of the delegation laid flowers at the Victory Monument and honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence.

In his address to the participants of the action, the head of the administration of the Sovetsky district, Sergei Anatolyevich Hilman, noted that the Great Patriotic War left an unforgettable mark in history and an unhealed wound in the hearts of Belarusians. To this day, we mourn those innocently killed by the fascist hand, we mourn those who gave their lives in the name of Victory, we cherish those who are alive and are witnesses of that time. The feat of our grandfathers is the great pride of the nation. Together we will preserve the memory of the feat of our people for future generations, for the opportunity to live and work peacefully on our Belarusian land!

At the end of the action, many people went to the book of memory to write down the names of their ancestors who heroically defended Belarus.

Exactly 80 years ago, on June 30, 1944, it was the 1105th day of the war. The main forces of the 1st Belorussian Front were rapidly developing an offensive towards Minsk and Slutsk. On this day, Lyubansky, Krasnoslobodskaya, Pleshchenitsky, Kopatkevichi, Slutsk districts were liberated. In the Polotsk direction, Soviet troops liberated the city of Disna as a result of a rapid offensive. Northeast of Minsk, Soviet troops, having broken the resistance of the fascist invaders, crossed the Berezina River and broke into the city of Borisov.
