SEPTEMBER 21 – UNITED SAFETY DAY

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, together with interested ministries and departments of the country, is holding a Unified Safety Day on September 21, the tasks of which include the prevention of emergencies, offenses and crimes, training in behavior in conditions of fires and other emergencies, as well as providing first aid.

So, as part of the Unified Safety Day, our enterprise held a training seminar on compliance with labor protection legislation and compliance with safety rules. The lecturer was the chief technical labor inspector of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism Workers Dmitry Sokolik.

The seminar discussed the process of organizing work on labor protection, issues of compulsory insurance against accidents at work, their investigation procedure and liability for violation of labor protection legislation. At the end of the seminar, a series of films with uncensored scenes of real work-related injuries were shown, which really made us think about the main thing – life and health, as well as our sometimes frivolous attitude towards these categories.

For reference: The Single Security Day has been held in the republic since 2018 on the initiative of the Secretariat of the Security Council. The impetus for holding the Single Safety Day was the tragedy in the Winter Cherry shopping center in Kemerovo (Russian Federation), where in 2018, a fire killed 60 people, 37 of them children, and another 79 were injured. At that time, there was no fire warning or evacuation of visitors in the building. No attempt was made to prevent panic, and during the fire a crush formed in the building. Many people died near an emergency exit that no one opened. Due to late notification of the fire, some visitors died in one of the cinema halls – evacuation routes were cut off by the fire
