President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko supported the initiative to create a “Republican Center for Patriotic Education of Youth” on the territory of the Kobrin fortification of the Brest Fortress.
In 2018, on the basis of the reconstructed headquarters building, a branch of the educational institution “Brest State Regional Center for Youth Creativity” “Youth Patriotic Center” was opened (the project to create a Youth Patriotic Center was supported by the President at the 42nd Congress of the Public Association “Belarusian Republican Youth Union” in January 2015). On the basis of the Youth Patriotic Center, additional education programs for children and youth “Young Scout”, “Military History”, “Tourism”, “Young Army Man” and others are successfully implemented, regional training camps on military-patriotic training “Winner” and recreational camp “Patriot” of defense and sports profile during the summer health campaign. From 2018 to 2023, more than 400 regional patriotic events and events were held at the Youth Patriotic Center branch, in which over 50 thousand students of the Brest region took part.
In accordance with the decision of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, the Brest Regional Department of Capital Construction was appointed by the customer for the design and construction of the 1st stage of the facility.
The project for creating the center provides for:
– reconstruction of barracks premises for accommodation of 200 students, reconstruction of casemates of the tennal front of the Kobrin fortification for classrooms, reconstruction of a dining room for 200 seats, arrangement of a summer camp area for 200 seats and a shooting range, military sports and playgrounds, improvement of the adjacent territory and repairs northwestern gate of the fortress;
– reconstruction of the Western Fort into a leisure and educational complex for the simultaneous stay of up to 500 people, improvement of the adjacent territory of the Brest Fortress.
The first phase will include the reconstruction of the barracks into a dormitory and the creation of sports infrastructure.
In order to accumulate funds received for these purposes from the public and sponsors, a charity account has been opened.
