EXACTLY 30 YEARS AGO, ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO OFFICIALLY ASSUMED THE POST OF PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

On July 20, 1994, the first inauguration of the President of the Republic of Belarus took place. During taking the oath, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko said: “Assuming the office of President of the Republic of Belarus, I solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of the Republic of Belarus, to comply with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Belarus, to faithfully fulfill the lofty obligations imposed on me.” From that moment on, presidential power was established in our country.

That day, the meeting of the Supreme Council opened at 10 a.m. and gathered a record number of deputies. 318 people gathered in the Oval Hall (there were both journalists and diplomats).
