Our country is on the eve of the most important socio-political event – the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus, scheduled for January 26, 2025. The procedure for their conduct is defined in the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus and liability is provided for its violation by legislative acts.
During the election campaign, polemics and exchange of opinions are a normal process. However, when exercising one’s rights and freedoms, one should not forget about the norms of law. In this regard, we draw attention to certain aspects of compliance with the law.
In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Mass Events”, meetings, rallies, marches and other similar events are held solely on the basis of the permissive principle.
Permission to hold a mass event is given by the local executive and administrative bodies where the event is planned, and in Minsk by the Minsk City Executive Committee.
It is illegal to hold a mass event without such a permit.
When holding a mass event, its participants are obliged to observe public order and comply with all legal requirements of the organizers of such an event, as well as employees of the internal affairs bodies.
