A screening of the film Chorny Zamak, based on the novel by Vladimir Korotkevich, the first Belarusian writer to turn to the genre of historical detective, is taking place in cinemas in Belarus.
The labor collective of the House of Printing did not stand aside and joined the national screening of the film “Chorny Zamak”. Collective watching of films has already become a tradition for employees.
The film “Chorny Zamak” is one of the most anticipated films of 2024. This is a joint project of the National Film Studio Belarusfilm and the Russian company New Art Cinema Production. The film was released on December 12, and it is also interesting that a single start of the screening was given in Belarus and Russia.
In an interview, the filmmakers assured that, in general, the essence of the novel remained unchanged despite the multi-layered story, which is very difficult to film, because there are quite a lot of time layers. To fit them into a two-hour movie, something had to be given up. When writing the script, the creators went more into the entertainment side, because reading the book takes longer, and the movie lasts only one and a half to two hours. During this time, it was necessary, on the one hand, to preserve the depth that Vladimir Korotkevich had laid in the work, on the other, to create a picture that a young viewer would not start looking at the phone after 20 minutes. That’s why this two-hour story came out, even though a lot more material was shot.
According to the plot, an unknown person hands over an ancient Gospel belonging to the Olshansky family to the antique shop of the hero of the film Anton Kosmich and his partner Maryan Ptashinsky. The boys study it and discover a hidden cipher. Soon Ptashinsky is killed, and Kosmich is suspected of this crime. Anton has no choice but to escape from police surveillance to Olshany to learn the secrets of the past and find his friend’s killer.
The film intertwines ancient events related to the Olshansky family, pages from the history of the Great Patriotic War, and, of course, modern events. Love and betrayal, treachery and thirst for money, and even the search for immortality are intertwined in this tape to famously twist a tangle of events that the film’s characters will be able to unravel in the finale.
The film undoubtedly caused a lot of emotions among the audience. The staff of the Press House shared their opinions about what they had seen immediately after the end in the cinema lobby. Everyone, without exception, agreed with the words that end the film: “A nation that knows its history acquires immortality. If we know the past, we will be invincible and united.” This film is a must-see for every resident of our country. Thanks to its creators for the relevant picture and the opportunity to join the story!
