ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO ASSUMED THE POST OF PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

On March 25, the inauguration ceremony took place in the Ceremonial Hall of the Independence Palace. The ceremony began with the passage of the President’s motorcade, accompanied by an honorary escort of motorcyclists along the two main avenues of the capital – Independence and Pobediteley. 

A few minutes before Alexander Lukashenko’s arrival, the National Flag of the Republic of Belarus and the standard of the President of the Republic of Belarus were brought to the Palace of Independence.

Then, to the sounds of a solemn march, the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus was introduced to the place of the inauguration. The ceremony was opened by Chairman of the Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko, who announced that Alexander Lukashenko had been elected President of the country by the will of the people of Belarus in free and democratic elections.

Then, placing his right hand on the Constitution, which was specially made for the ceremony at our enterprise, Alexander Lukashenko took the oath in Belarusian: “In assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Belarus, I solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of the Republic of Belarus, to respect and protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, to observe and protect the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, to fulfill the high duties entrusted to me in a holy and conscientious manner.”

Then the National Anthem of Belarus was performed, after which the President signed the act of taking the Oath. The Chairman of the Central Election Commission presented Alexander Lukashenko with the certificate of the President of the Republic of Belarus, which was also produced in the walls of our Press House.

The inauguration ceremony ended on the National Flag Square, where Belarusian servicemen took the oath of allegiance to the Belarusian people and the President of the Republic of Belarus.

In total, more than 1,100 people were invited to the event. Among them are senior officials, members of the Presidium of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, deputies of the House of Representatives and members of the Council of the Republic, judges of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, heads of state bodies and organizations, local executive and administrative bodies, republican mass media, scientists, cultural and sports figures, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in Belarus.

It should be recalled that following the results of the elections on January 26, 2025, Alexander Lukashenko was elected President of the Republic of Belarus. 5,136,293 votes were cast for his candidacy, which amounted to 86.82% of the number of citizens who took part in the voting.

The Central Election Commission officially approved the election results at a meeting on February 3.
