Topic: “THE DEFENSIVE POWER OF THE BELARUSIAN ARMY AND PATRIOTISM IN MODERN CONDITIONS”

There is no country or people who have felt absolutely safe in recent decades. Military force has again become an important argument in building interstate relations.

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus have a special role in ensuring the national security of our country, namely protection from external and internal threats.

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

After being elected President, Alexander Lukashenko prevented the degradation of the army that began with the collapse of the USSR, defined a strategy for the formation and transformation of the army of a sovereign and independent Belarus, took measures to preserve the material and technical base, subsequently modernize and create mobile, combat-ready Armed Forces. Under his leadership, development prospects were determined until 2030, the regional grouping of troops was strengthened and military security continues to be ensured.

Today, the military personnel of the Armed Forces sacredly preserve and enhance the combat traditions of the older generations, improve their combat skills and successfully solve complex combat training tasks.

Based on a systematic analysis of the military-political situation and its forecast, Belarus continues to develop its own Armed Forces and adapt them to respond to any situation that may arise.

The development of the state’s military power is a complex, high–tech sphere that encompasses the military, economic, scientific, technical, and moral-political potential of the state.

Congratulating compatriots, veterans and military personnel on the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces in 2025, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko emphasized: “Our high-tech, compact and mobile army, the entire military organization of the state are capable of responding to any challenges of the time and are today a reliable shield for the people, a guarantor of peace on the Belarusian land.”

Assessing the international situation and the situation around the perimeter of our peace-loving republic, Belarusians understand the value of a peaceful sky above their heads. At a time when tensions around Belarus are not abating, and provocations from individual neighbors continue, the presence of a strong Belarusian army is a guarantee of security.

Today, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus continue to be a key element of strategic deterrence, ensuring the prevention of the threat of the use of military force against our country. In order to respond in a timely and adequate manner to existing and potential risks and challenges to military security, Belarus is implementing an appropriate set of measures to strengthen the state’s defense capability so that every Belarusian is confident that the peace, stability, and security of our country are under reliable protection.

At a time when monuments to Soviet soldiers are being ruthlessly demolished in different countries, the names of the dead, who were previously considered unknown, are being established in our country, patriotic sites are being opened, museums are being created, new steles and obelisks are being erected in order to sacredly preserve the history of the Great Victory, pass it on to children and prevent its rewriting.

Peace has always been, is, and will always be an indisputable value for Belarusians. Our entire centuries-old history testifies to this. We are peaceful people, and we want to live and work peacefully in our native land. Our position was clearly outlined by the Head of State Alexander Lukashenko on December 9, 2025, at a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus: “We don’t want war, we don’t consider anyone our opponents or rivals…”

The Belarusian army is mobile, well-trained and equipped with modern means of combat. Peaceful life in our state and its territorial integrity are reliably protected.
