Fraud (Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) has been a fairly common occurrence in Belarus over the past few years. Digital technologies and excellent mastery of psychological techniques have brought scammers to a fundamentally new level, which allows them to fool thousands of citizens of the country, defrauding them of their last savings, regardless of age, social status and income level. Couriers of so-called “financial” structures are caught in dozens throughout the city. Those who are especially hungry for money are brought under investigation by their own curators as soon as the “businessman”, after receiving a large sum from the victim, stops communicating with the “central office”. It should be remembered: “alliances of lies” do not spare either their own or others. Each distributor of the “divorce factory” has a detailed dossier, which is put into action in any unclear situation.
Illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their precursors and analogues (Article 328 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) is an equally popular form of “easy” money, which results in many years of imprisonment for “high sellers”, “treasure hunters” and hundreds of crippled lives of citizens. As a rule, teenagers and students with fragile minds, but a strong desire to earn a good life at any cost, get into this business, forgetting that hooking a client on “synthetics” dooms him to instant addiction and speedy death. Law enforcement officials warn that punishment is inevitable. It’s just a matter of time. Due to their youth and lack of life experience, the “pawnbrokers” and “coordinators” of drug syndicates are the first to go to jail, since they are the smallest and most visible links in the “black business”. Following them are representatives of drug cartel branches. The corridors for the supply of so-called “salts” are blocked with the assistance of the Main Directorate for Drug Control and Combating Trafficking in Persons together with customs officers.
Pedophilia (sexual intercourse and other actions of a sexual nature with a person under sixteen years of age) (Article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) is a phenomenon for which there is no justification. This crime has no specific gender or degree of relationship. Both men and women can be pedophiles. Often, such people skillfully gain the trust of children, parents or other family members, carefully hide their intentions and actions, and exert psychological pressure on the minor victim. Solving crimes of this nature sometimes takes years of work by investigators. For many years, criminologists, psychologists, psychotherapists and sex therapists have been studying the physiognomic, psychophysical and behavioral portraits of those whose fate in not so distant places is predetermined. You can protect your child from the criminal acts of intruders: talk to your children, spend more time raising them, convey to them the basic safety rules, keep track of who your child communicates with and where he is at the moment. Domestic violence (Articles 153, 154, 186 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) is the scourge of modern society, which does not lose relevance in the 21st century.
Unfortunately, this type of crime is hidden. Someone else’s life is in the dark, and only a limited circle of relatives and friends knows what is going on behind the curtained windows of a private property. Victims of abusive relationships, as a rule, endure bullying to the last and try to silence the problem, and when the aggressor goes to extreme lengths and it comes to beatings, they turn to the police. The popular expression “not to wash dirty linen in public” in this case works against the victims. Weak and defenseless family members are afraid of more serious consequences for life and health and hush up the problem, giving rise to impunity. The hot ardor of the tyrant cools at the sight of people in uniform on his threshold. If the preventative work of the district police officer is not enough, a decision is made to send the domestic rowdy to a labor treatment clinic.
Appropriation of found property or theft (Article 11.4 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses and Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) is a popular story that appears in police reports. Even those who do not share the credo “stole, drank, went to jail” can receive a fine or a prison sentence. It is enough to pick up a wallet lost by someone to instantly establish an administrative offense or crime. With one movement of the hand, a passer-by becomes an accused. The situation is different with those who like noisy companies and drink alcohol among strangers at home – they voluntarily let potential thieves into their home, discovering their property is missing in the morning. Burglary is also not uncommon. The times when large bags with fur coats, tape recorders and televisions were taken out of the entrance under the cover of darkness are gone, but burglars remain. Only the opening methods and the type of preferred prey have changed. Technology has been replaced by money, jewelry and expensive compact gadgets. One of the few things that can stop a seasoned thief is a red alarm light above the front door of your apartment.
