On the initiative of the Youth Council of the Office of the President of Belarus, today the working youth of subordinate organizations from Minsk and the Shklovsky district united to restore order on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in the adjacent territory of the sculpture of a woman who symbolizes the grieving mother of soldiers who did not return from the war in the agricultural town of Alexandria, Shklovsky district, Mogilev region.
About 40 young people, together with the heads of the Office of the President of the Republic of Belarus and local authorities, restored order in the birch grove where the monument is located, cleaned and painted all fences and structures, tiled flooring and planted new trees. After that, they laid flowers at the monument and honored the memory of the heroes and victims of the Great Patriotic War.
It is safe to say that the participation of young people in such events helps not only to preserve the historical and cultural heritage, but primarily creates a sense of responsibility for their history. Young people are the future of society, and their involvement in such events helps to transfer knowledge about the importance of preserving history. It also provides an opportunity to develop practical skills such as working with tools and the basics of restoration. In addition, it is a chance to learn how to work in a team, develop leadership skills and organizational skills. The experience gained helps young people become more aware citizens, appreciate their culture and history, and develop empathy for other people and their heritage.
All this can significantly affect their worldview and social attitudes. And in order to inspire the rest of my young colleagues to participate in such events, it is important to show the results of the work — before and after the restoration of monuments.
Of course, this labor action, which originated in the Year of Landscaping and the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, will become a good tradition.
The event ended with a guided tour of a unique local landmark, the Trofimov Krinitsa spring.
