Today is National Unity Day! On this day we return to understanding the importance of such concepts as the unity of the people. We are the people of our state, and we are united regardless of our religion or nationality. Our country is our home, which we defend together, together we are proud of the achievements of our citizens and also together we mourn sad losses and experience sad events.
National Unity Day is our holiday because we believe in our country, its strength and its power.
September 17 takes us back to the historical date of 1939, when a fateful event took place in the history of the Belarusian people – the reunification of Western and Eastern Belarus. The people torn apart by the Riga Peace Treaty of 1921 were reunited, having the opportunity to develop within the borders of one republic. Therefore, it is not for nothing that September 17 is called the starting point of the new history of the united Belarusian people, when reunification united the entire people and stopped fratricidal wars and bloodshed, and now, we believe in our national unity!
Today, September 17, the team of the Belarusian Press House congratulates all of you, our dear compatriots, on this significant day! May the heart of each of us be filled with a sense of pride for the feat of our ancestors, and may their holy covenant – to take care of the Motherland – be strictly observed. Let’s preserve traditions and rituals, share the breadth of the hospitable Belarusian soul, and be proud of the vastness of our beautiful country! Happy National Unity Day – a people with a heroic past and a bright future!
